With My Mandate, BGL BNP Paribas is facilitating access to discretionary management. Its hybrid approach, combining technology with human expertise, allows more people to easily outsource their investment management.
Investing has never been so accessible. Yet for many individuals, portfolio management remains a complex task and is often viewed as technical, time-consuming and risky. With factors such as market volatility, the multitude of financial products available, and economic uncertainty, it’s hard to know how to act and react.
Considering this, BGL BNP Paribas has taken a new approach to give a broad client base access to discretionary management services that had previously been reserved for private banking clients.
This has led to the emergence of My Mandate, the new discretionary management offering developed
by BGL BNP Paribas. “We are seeing a marked change in our clients’ expectations. They want to
invest but with simple, understandable solutions that are appropriate for their profile. Our aim is to offer them a framework that lets them act with confidence,” explains Markus Stegmann, Head of Retail Banking at BGL BNP Paribas.
A hybrid experience combining simplicity and expertise
Whereas discretionary management was traditionally based on a very personalised relationship that was
often hard to establish, My Mandate takes a freer, more accessible approach. From the comfort of their home, clients can freely explore the service, set up their investor profile, simulate different investment scenarios over a 10-year horizon, and refine their goals. This fully online process lets everyone understand what’s involved and plan ahead.
Investment management, however, remains the responsibility of a team of experienced managers with excellent and distinctively human analysis skills. “Portfolios are managed on a discretionary basis by Wealth Management experts, who constantly adjust allocations according to market conditions and the client’s profile”, Markus Stegmann adds. “In uncertain times, the ability to adjust investments quickly is vital.
Our teams are constantly stepping in to ensure a sensible, responsive allocation, providing investors with the peace of mind they need”.
A premium service from as little as €5,000
This hybrid model illustrates the wider transformation of the banking industry. “It’s no longer about contrasting digital technology with human expertise, but about juxtaposing them to create more efficient, more accessible, better performing services,” Markus Stegmann explains.
With My Mandate, clients can access a discretionary management service for investments starting
from €5,000. With this in mind, the bank based its approach on five investment strategies that address different risk profiles and goals, all within a clear framework. “We wanted to propose a simple structure, one that lets everyone know where they stand and comprehend what they’re investing in,”says Markus Stegmann.
A new investment standard
Clients maintain full visibility over their investments with real-time monitoring and transparent pricing, while benefitting from expert management. “Delegating the management of your investments does not mean relinquishing control. Rather, it lets you invest methodically within a structured framework suited to your goals,” Markus Stegmann concludes.
At a time when expectations are changing rapidly, this hybrid approach could prove to be the new norm, at the meeting point between technological innovation and financial expertise.
