Discover new startups, hear talks from industry experts and network with some of the country’s biggest health sector players: all this and more awaits at Luxembourg Healthcare Week (HWL).

Organised by the Federation of Luxembourg Hospitals (FHL) in partnership with Quinze Mai (QM), this third edition explores the opportunities and challenges posed by AI within the healthcare sector, be it in ethics and governance, research and innovation, management, and organisation as well as teaching and training.

“The rise of AI is both challenging and rapidly transforming the healthcare sector,” Philippe Turk, President of the HWL Scientific Committee and former FHL President, said, adding: “From large institutions to start-ups, and encompassing research, academia, education and medical practice, AI is increasingly becoming an essential tool for personalising medical care, speeding up decision-making and improving the overall healthcare value chain.”

From 7 to 8 October, attendees can hear from around 100 speakers across eight panels, visit more than 110 stands and mingle with the thousands of attendees at Luxexpo The Box.

Among the highlights will be a ceremony for the HWL Awards, with the winner selected from  12 shortlisted nominees spanning five countries. This contest celebrates innovation across four categories of the international healthcare sector: startups in Europe, startups in Luxembourg, medical and managerial innovation in companies or institutions.

Last year’s HWL Awards acknowledged four outstanding projects: Centre François Baclesse for “APRILUX”, a study on individual radiosensitivity in cancer treatment; CHL for its “Escape Game”, a creative training tool for hospital teams; Prostperia for “PROSTia”, an AI-driven screening test for prostate cancer; and MDSim for “SPINEsim”, a surgical planning platform using biomechanical digital twin technology.
