Job Shadow Day 2026 in Luxembourg connected students with industry leaders, offering a hands-on immersion into companies across tech, entrepreneurship and innovation-driven sectors.
Across 23 schools and 75 companies, students followed executives for a day, gaining insight into decision-making, operations and innovation in real business environments.

What impact has Job Shadow Day had on students’ career choices?
This program allows young people to explore management professions and a variety of sectors. By following a manager, or sometimes several, over the course of a day, students gain direct exposure to roles with significant responsibilities, which are not always easy to grasp in a concrete way through theory alone. This immersive experience often helps them confirm their decision to pursue studies in a specific field, but it can also challenge their initial career choices. By experiencing real working environments, students develop a clearer and more practical understanding of different careers, making the program especially valuable when making decisions about higher education.

What skills do students gain most from the experience?
Students develop a strong understanding of workplace norms and how companies operate. They also learn how to present themselves professionally. In addition, the experience fosters curiosity, self-confidence, and networking skills through interactions with professionals and other students. It also prepares them to act professionally and apply for jobs or internships, as they go through a process that requires submitting a CV and a cover letter.
How can companies better support young talent beyond this program?
Companies can support young talent not only by participating in the program itself, but also by using it as a first step in a longer-term talent development pathway.
In fact, when there is a good fit between the student and the company, Job Shadow Day can naturally lead to follow-up opportunities, such as longer internships. In some cases, companies and students may agree to organise a more in-depth placement, for example during the summer, allowing the student to gain more substantial hands-on experience.
As student interest continues to grow each year, increased company participation is essential—not only to meet demand, but also to create meaningful entry points into longer-term internships and future career pathways. Companies willing to open their doors, showcase their work environment, and stay open to continued engagement play a key role in supporting the next generation of talent.
