Luxembourg hospitality operating platform MAIC has just closed a funding round to scale its solution globally.

The startup, which was founded in 2023 and is based at the House of Startups, has not disclosed the total amount raised. But, the round was by Expon Capital, which has invested in several successful Luxembourg scaleups, including Salonkee and Passbolt. The fundraising also included participation from LBAN and other private investors.

Developed by former hotel managers, MAIC’s solution meets a recurring issue in the industry: IT systems that don’t match the realities of daily workflows across shifts and portfolios. MAIC’s single operating platform, aligned to a manager’s day, gives visibility and control over the guest journey and daily operations, including front desk, housekeeping, service coordination, food and beverages and spa. And it is interoperable with popular hotel Property Management Systems, including Oracle Hospitality OPERA, Mews and Apaleo.

“We are impressed by the company’s strong traction in driving clear P&L impact within the hotel industry.”

Lily Wang, Partner at Expon Capital

“We shaped MAIC around the way managers actually want to work, simple to run today, easy to scale across the portfolio,” said Ilija Evic, MAIC co-founder and former five-star hotel general manager in Austria. According to MAIC, the solution is aimed at a typical 200-room property, where it can reportedly add €500,000 in additional annual profit due to time saving and added value.

Currently, MAIC is available in nine countries and is looking to reach more customers and boost its product features to support independent hotels and multi-property groups across Europe and beyond.

Lily Wang, Partner at Expon Capital, said: “We are impressed by the company’s strong traction in driving clear P&L impact within the hotel industry. Given the founders’ deep industry expertise and dedication to their mission, we are confident they are the right partners in bringing value to their customers.”

MAIC is currently participating in EY Luxembourg’s EYnovation™ program, which provides mentoring and network access for startups in the country.
