Six young Luxembourgish scientists competed at the Mostra Nacional de Ciência 2026 in Porto, earning international recognition.
The Fondation Jeunes Scientifiques Luxembourg (FJSL) sent six student projects to Porto, Portugal, for the Mostra Nacional de Ciência 2026, held from 28 to 30 May. The delegation, selected through the national Jonk Fuerscher Contest, competed alongside over 200 young scientists aged 15 to 20 from across the globe, presenting 84 projects spanning biology, health sciences, and engineering.
Two Luxembourg students received Honourable Mentions from the international jury: Emeline Buck for her research on flexible materials in morphing wing aerodynamics, and Kathleen Boyere for a multidisciplinary study on en pointe dance biomechanics and injury prevention economics.
Beyond the awards, the FJSL also granted four international participants a special prize to attend the upcoming Luxembourg International Science Expo (LISE) 2026.
