In a digital landscape dominated by foreign platforms, the launch of LuxTransfer.lu marks a decisive step forward for Luxembourg’s sovereignty and cybersecurity strategy. Designed as a simple, secure and transparent solution for file transfers, LuxTransfer builds on the founders’ vision of making digital infrastructure both reliable and accessible.
LuxTransfer emerged from Cyclop, an initiative challenging the idea that quality in IT services must come at a high price and with slow deployment. By applying the same philosophy to file sharing, the team offers a tool that prioritises sovereignty, confidentiality and ease of use, while remaining deeply anchored in the Luxembourg ecosystem.
“Everyone is used to relying on foreign transfer solutions,” explains Virgile Missios, adding: “We said to ourselves: Luxembourg already has LuxTrust for digital signatures, LuxChat for sovereign messaging, LuxConnect for infrastructure, but no local file transfer solution. With LuxTransfer, we wanted to add our brick to the wall: ethical, sovereign, free, and above all secure, without being subject to foreign jurisdictions or security loopholes.”
Rapid Adoption Across Sectors
Since its launch in July 2025, LuxTransfer has seen rapid adoption across sectors, with usage growing by more than 120% week on week. Hospitals, institutions and private companies have already integrated the platform, some going as far as to replace internal tools entirely. Thanks to its viral model, every file shared introduces new users, driving exponential growth and reinforcing the platform’s community dimension.
From a technical standpoint, LuxTransfer encrypts files directly in the browser before they leave the user’s device. Unlike competitors like WeTransfer, the company never holds decryption keys, meaning no one but the sender and recipient can access the files.
“What changes everything is that the encryption key never leaves the browser,” says Frédéric Hilpert. “At no point can we read, access, or appropriate the data entrusted to us. Our role is limited to storing and making it available, which is the ultimate way to guarantee confidentiality, whether for privacy, industrial secrets, or sensitive communications.”
