Luxembourg-based RegTech startup Mopso has raised €1 million in seed funding to accelerate its expansion across Europe and further develop its cutting-edge anti-money laundering (AML) platform.
The funding round marks a significant milestone for the company, which relocated from Milan to Luxembourg and is now housed at the Luxembourg House of Startups.
The round was led by Apside, a joint venture between Intesa Sanpaolo and Zest S.p.A., with follow-on investment from CDP Venture Capital’s Fin+Tech accelerator. Additional capital from Centro Istruttorie of the Moltiply Group, and support from several angel investors.
“The quality and weight of the investors confirm the value of our project.”

Strategic partnership
The news comes as the startup entered a strategic partnership with Armundia Group to deliver integrated, automated AML-compliant onboarding and wealth management solutions for financial institutions across Italy, Luxembourg, and the UK. By combining Armundia’s AI-driven advisory platforms with Mopso’s advanced AML and digital identity tools, the collaboration aims to raise regulatory compliance standards and enhance customer experience in the evolving digital finance landscape.
Founded in 2021 by Andrea Danielli (ex-Banca d’Italia analyst) and serial entrepreneur Enrico Fagnoni, Mopso offers a modular software suite for financial crime prevention. Its technology uses the semantic web, digital identity, and open-source intelligence to automate compliance processes and enhance AML detection capabilities. The platform’s core products include:
Brain: A system that integrates internal and external data to identify high-risk customers and suspicious transactions via AI-driven risk profiling and network analysis.
Amlet: A tool that converts due diligence documentation into verifiable credentials, enabling streamlined onboarding and future integration with the European Digital Identity Wallet.
An ecosystem success story
Luxembourg’s financial ecosystem has played a pivotal role in Mopso’s recent growth. The startup participated in Fit 4 Start under the High-Performance Computing (HPC) category and became a resident of LHoFT (Luxembourg House of Financial Technology). Mopso was also a finalist in the 2024 ACA Innovation Awards, underscoring its growing relevance to Luxembourg’s financial sector.
In late 2024, Mopso received a government-backed grant via the Joint Call HPC program, co-financed by the Ministry of the Economy and the FNR, in collaboration with LIST. The grant supports development of PAMLA, an advanced AML solution combining Mopso’s RegTech capabilities with Luxembourg’s HPC infrastructure and data science expertise.
“The quality and weight of the investors confirm the value of our project,” said CEO Andrea Danielli. “We are already working to create the right commercial and industrial synergies, we hope to strengthen our research and development activities with the support of strategic partners. With the Moltiply Group ecosystem, we already see multiple areas for concrete collaboration.” With this latest backing and the new strategic partnership, Mopso aims to strengthen its presence in the European RegTech market and roll out new features to meet increasingly complex regulatory demands.
