Olky Group Becomes Deskoin’s Majority Owner

Olky Group has become the majority shareholder of French crypto-asset platform Deskoin, days after Deskoin secured MiCA authorisation from the AMF.

Payments group Olky, based in Luxembourg and France, has taken majority ownership of Deskoin, a French crypto trading platform founded in Metz.

Olky first invested in Deskoin back in December 2024, and has now increased its stake to 50.26% of the company’s capital. The move comes right after Deskoin got the green light from French regulators to operate legally across the EU under new crypto rules known as MiCA.

Together, the two companies are joining forces: Olky’s payment systems with Deskoin’s exchange, which already serves over 50,000 users buying and selling more than 120 different cryptocurrencies. At the heart of the partnership is OlkyWallet, a new service that lets customers pay with bitcoin or USDC, and lets businesses accept crypto payments just as easily as regular ones — building a simple bridge between euros and cryptocurrency.

To learn more about the strategic logic, the roadmap for OlkyWallet, and Olky’s next markets, Silicon Luxembourg put questions to Franck Rouayroux, CEO of the Olky Group and OlkyPay.

What was the total value of the transaction, and what stake does Olky Group now hold in Deskoin?

Olky Group now holds 50.26% of Deskoin’s capital. The amount of the transaction remains confidential.

Why was Deskoin the right partner for this Web3 push, rather than building crypto capabilities in-house or partnering with another player?

Deskoin had recognised expertise and an efficient crypto-asset exchange and custody platform. Taking control of Deskoin was preferred over the alternative of building an equivalent platform from scratch, which would have taken much longer and would have required filing for MiCA authorisation, whose approval timeline is hard to predict. Olky Group already knew Deskoin’s offering well, having been a shareholder since 2025 with a 25.5% stake.

Beyond the BTC/USDC payment solution, what will the “OlkyWallet” project actually look like for end users, and what is the launch timeline?

OlkyWallet has already launched. It mainly consists of integrating the Deskoin platform into the Olky environment. Portability of OlkyPass KYC, for both consumers and businesses, is an important part of bringing the two operations together. In addition, integrating Olky’s payment services into Deskoin’s offering greatly simplifies euro-to-crypto conversions.

“[…] several other countries are planned in the near term, since the MiCA authorisation can be passported across all EU countries.”

Regarding the 180 Web3 players Olky already supports, what crypto-asset investment and settlement solutions will they be offered, and will this offer be exclusive to Deskoin’s infrastructure?

The offer will not be exclusive to Deskoin. Olky’s solutions are deployed with Deskoin first to facilitate testing, and once a solution is operational, it is also made available to other Web3 players. Olky already offers a euro-crypto collection solution called Kypay, which lets merchants across all sectors accept payments from customers by card, virtual IBAN, and crypto.

Now that Deskoin has obtained its MiCA authorisation, which European markets is Olky Group prioritising for its crypto expansion, and on what timeline?

The first markets being addressed right now are France and Luxembourg. But several other countries are planned in the near term, since the MiCA authorisation can be passported across all EU countries.
