Solar panel cleaning firm Solarcleano is set to double its robotics production in Luxembourg after announcing construction of a new €7m factory in Grass.
The rapidly expanding spinoff of Fallprotec, a Luxembourg-based company specialising in safety equipment for working at height, expects to add 20 more jobs when the site opens in mid-2027.
“We urgently need more space, because our volume of orders is really increasing, and our machines are also becoming bigger and bigger,” Romain Gourmet, head of business development at Solarcleano told Silicon.
Since 2017, the company has been developing autonomous photovoltaic cleaning robotics to optimise solar energy generation around the world. In the meantime, it has added new features such as scanning and thermal analysis. Currently, it serves 90 global partners in 117 countries and employs a team of 50 FTEs in Luxembourg. The new facility will be built metres from its existing site, adding a few thousand square metres of manufacturing and R&D space.
“Everything is produced here and shipped abroad,” said Gourmet, adding that the new facility will double capacity. The news comes after Solarcleano announced the opening of a wholly owned robotics assembly line in the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone (ZAEZ) in China. The production facility is scheduled to be up and running by April 2026 to deliver 500 machines to the Chinese market in a year.
