For its Hackathon 2025, Foyer Group put customer insights in the spotlight. This choice reflects its overall strategy, in which client centricity and innovation are among the key pillars. The event was the ideal opportunity to bring these two areas together and transform them into levers for action.

An approach far from new

For Foyer Group, client centricity has long been a strategic priority. Over ten years ago, the company transformed its organisation to simplify the customer journey, clarify communication channels and better align teams with customer needs. At the same time, Foyer established its Innovation department – built on open innovation, experimentation, exploration and employee acculturation – reflecting a strong commitment to continuous improvement and the development of products and services in accordance with its values.

In line with this vision, the Hackathon was designed to benefit both the insurance sector and the Group’s other activities. Beyond idea generation, it enabled teams to revisit practices, combine expertise and strengthen synergies across entities. Strong cross-functional participation and representation from all entities ensured that the ideas reflected a variety of experiences and insights. Supported by coaches and proven innovation methodologies, participants developed concrete projects translating customer insights into tangible solutions.

In today’s rapidly evolving environment shaped by AI and automation, client centricity remains rooted in listening, adaptability and a strong human connection. The Hackathon illustrates the belief that the most impactful innovation is human-centred – enhancing customer experience and empowering employees – making client centricity both a performance driver and a shared culture built on collective intelligence and future-ready ambitions.

From data to action

The teams were not the only ones innovating. The Innovation service challenged its practices to ensure that the information, data, and content collected over the years – through meetings with start-ups, participation in ecosystem events, Proof of Concept (POC), and numerous projects – are better leveraged and shared with the right people. This reflects a broader vision of client centricity, applying not only to external customers, but also to internal employees who collaborate daily across the Group.

To meet this challenge and in accordance with its experimentation tradition, the team launched a POC with Yumana to create a digital innovation platform centralising all topics explored since the creation of the Innovation service. Accessible at any time, the collaborative platform promotes knowledge sharing, strengthens Group synergies, and improves the capitalisation of these resources. Powered by an AI-based search engine, it allows employees to explore a database covering a wide variety of sectors.

With time optimised, the Innovation team can focus on higher value-added activities, including monitoring innovation trends in Luxembourg, supporting employees in developing their ideas and projects, and facilitating connections with relevant startups, tools, and services.

This format also reinforced the human dimension of the Hackathon: employees could fully engage in the initiative by uploading their pitch, suggesting or even voting for ideas. Remote, bilingual, and open to all business lines, the platform was designed to make the initiative as inclusive and people-focused as possible.

By combining innovation, client centricity and data intelligence, Foyer integrates new technologies into concrete actions that benefit customers and the company. Because collecting data is not enough; it must be activated to become a true driver of experience and performance.
