€200k Subsidies For Social Innovation Projects

Social innovation projects in Luxembourg can secure up to €200,000 in government subsidies by participating in a call for projects which support and promote social innovation.

The call was launched on 30 March at the Social Innovation BarCamp organised at the House of Startups.

“We will continue to encourage the creation of societal impact companies, because in the face of the challenges we are currently facing, it is essential to promote another mode of entrepreneurship that focuses instead on social and environmental aspects,” said labour and social and solidarity economy minister Georges Engel.

In September 2022, the minister inaugurated the social business incubator, which serves to support established and aspiring social entrepreneurs and turbo charge this economic sector. The incubator is a coworking space and networking and training centre.

To quality, projects must meet the conditions for social innovation, which is defined as an economic activity aimed at preserving and developing social links, maintaining and reinforcing territorial cohesion, developing cultural or creative activities as well as developing initial or continuous training activities.

To be considered, projects must be submitted before 15 June. Each application must include a description of the project or programme, the activity or investment and its innovative nature, as well as a description of the methods for achieving outcomes and economic potential.
