Catalpa Ventures, the Luxembourg-based HealthTech-focused venture capital fund, has announced its second investment, committing €800,000 to Berlin-based REMI Health.

The startup, founded in 2022, provides a comprehensive “one-stop shop” infrastructure for home diagnostic testing, addressing the growing demand for remote healthcare solutions amid an ageing population and shortages of healthcare professionals.

REMI Health began by offering home testing kits for sexually transmitted infections and quickly built its own laboratory in Berlin. The company has since expanded its service model to cover preventative health screenings and chronic disease management, creating a fulfillment platform that other startups, insurers, and healthcare providers can use to deliver at-home testing efficiently.

“Home testing is becoming increasingly essential,” said Christian Goergen, Catalpa partner. “Every person over 65 typically manages two chronic conditions. REMI has built the backbone that allows other HealthTech startups to scale preventive screening and longevity solutions. They’ve essentially created the ‘stripe of diagnostics’, the infrastructure other players can rely on.”

The investment aligns with Catalpa’s broader strategy of supporting early-stage European HealthTech solutions, both regulated and no-regulated, that address three major challenges: an ageing society, rising healthcare costs, and the shortage of medical professionals. The fund targets exits within seven years, balancing clinical validation with venture-scale growth.

Thomas Goergen, Catalpa partner and a veteran of Luxembourg’s fund sector, highlighted the strategic importance of REMI’s operational capabilities. “They already run their own lab and generate revenue, which gives us confidence in their ability to scale internationally,” he said. “This investment allows them to expand into other European countries and support the growing trend of home-based diagnostics.”

Catalpa Ventures, founded in Grevenmacher in 2024, completed its first closing in 2025 with €10 million secured from Luxembourg entrepreneurs and family offices. The fund has a strong digital focus, ensuring portfolio companies can scale rapidly and navigate the regulatory complexities of healthcare innovation.

REMI Health’s Diagnostics-as-a-Service model streamlines the full process from test kit production to lab analysis, interpretation, and reporting, providing startups, health insurers, and other healthcare entities with a turnkey solution, “enabling a faster, more scalable approach to diagnostics,” said Christian Goergen.

This is Catalpa’s second deal after Noah Labs and marks a continuation of Catalpa’s strategy of investing in startups that provide measurable impact while creating infrastructure that strengthens Europe’s healthcare system. More investments are expected as the fund continues its journey toward its €30 million target.
