The ministry of economy and the chamber of commerce have co-created Terra Matters to promote and support the transition towards a more circular economy. The continued development of the Product Circularity Data Sheet will be a central focus of this public-private partnership.

On February 14, the government announced the creation of Terra Matters, a new economic interest group which will promote circular economy practices within companies, in particular by ensuring the development, management and promotion of the Product Circularity Data Sheet (PCDS).

Launched in 2018 by the ministry of economy, the PCDS is a circular data management platform for materials and products which aims to establish an official and reliable standard for the circularity aspects of products by looking at their entire supply chain. Luxembourg members include EPEA, ArcelorMittal, the CDCL and LIST, among others.

Next to introducing and promoting the PCDS to companies, Terra Matters aims to collaborate with new partners to expand the national influence of the project. While the main mission remains to establish “an entire ecosystem around the PCDS”, the group will also work on outlining and developing industry-wide standards for a more circular economy.

Over the past three years, a PoC version has been successfully developed by a group of over fifty international players from twelve EU countries as well as the US. While the PCDS now enters a more commercial route, it will still have a majority state participation, represented by Christian Tock, Jérôme Petry and Raymond Faber from the ministry of economy. The other half of the PPP is represented by Anne-Marie Loesch and Christel Chatelain of the chamber of commerce.
