With this new streaming service, the entity will discuss and share views on societal, regulatory, economic, and fiscal issues that directly affect their institutional and commercial clients. Presented by lawyers, the 10 minute-audio programs are directly broadcasted on A&O’s website and are available on Apple Podcast, Podbean, Spotify and Google.

“On Air”’s first podcast is dedicated to COVID-19: Senior Associates and experts in labor law and employment issues, Gabrielle Eynard and Maurice Macchi discuss employer’s rights and obligations in Luxembourg in the context of COVID-19.

A second episode dedicated to ATAD2, the second Directive from the EU Commission on Anti Tax Avoidance is also available online. Johanna Tschurtschenthaler (Senior Associate, Tax) and Patrick Mischo (Senior Partner, Tax) of Allen & Overy Luxembourg discuss the basic concepts of the legislative act, and how the alternative investments space will be affected with respect to existing funds and new fund projects.

“The current lockdown is a good time to develop and implement new services and tools as people have more time to listen.”

A tool to demystify technical issues

“With this podcast service, Allen & Overy Luxembourg aims to position itself as a repository of increasing awareness around law practices in the Grand-Duchy,” Alina Golovkova, Public Relations & Marketing Specialist at A&O Luxembourg explains. “Podcasts have become important in today’s corporate communication. The current lockdown is a good time to develop and implement new services and tools as people have more time to listen. Podcasts are also a way to demystify topics that are usually more technical.”

More to come…

Amidst the confinement, A&O Luxembourg plans to continue the series on a regular basis. Upcoming podcasts are due to talk about alternative investment management space, M&A, AI and transfer pricing.

The podcast series follows an initiative by A&O’s London head office. Launched in May 2018, the first episode was dedicated to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), at a time when the 28 EU-member states were implementing the European directive into their national legislation. Since then, 206 podcasts have been broadcasted on topics such as Brexit, digitalisation, and M&As.

Founded in London in 1930, Allen & Overy (5.500 employees) operates 44 offices in 31 countries. Launched in 1990, the Luxembourg office has 196 people (130 lawyers and 66 staff) and specialises among others in banking/finance, capital markets, corporates and M&A, investment funds, tax, employment, intellectual property and insurance law.
