Members of the public visited the site of FTA Communication Technologies on Friday as part of a series of open door events coordinated to mark the fifth anniversary of the Luxembourg Space Agency.

Based in Gonderange, the firm, which also goes by the name Inverto Digital Labs, supplies broadcast reception equipment, remote monitoring and video streaming solutions serving major direct to home operators across the world. According to its Luxembourg Space Agency profile, the company was founded in 1999 and two-thirds of its 30-strong team are based in Luxembourg.

Inverto’s main customers are direct to home operators including TataPlay, Multichoice and Canal+ Luxembourg. It also distributes to global OEM partners. Its has contributed to a number of European Space Agency projects, including the MLNB, SVC+VCM, HTS-DBS and 5G Emerge/European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

The Luxembourg Space agency was launched in 2018 to promote the commercial space sector as a long-term economic diversification. The agency, which was created by the Luxembourg economy ministry, accelerates the development of a sector which first took hold in Luxembourg in the 1980s with the creation of public private satellite operator SES.

“We communicate through the press and social media but our feeling is also that the public don’t necessarily know what goes on behind the scenes,” Luxembourg Space Agency CEO Marc Serres told Silicon, adding: “This is an opportunity to create this link and to show what our companies and labs are doing.”

Thanks to partnerships with 20 ecosystem players, over the course of the year, the Agency will coordinate the following open doors events.
