BiBe: A New Portal For Ecological Projects

CELL, the centre for ecological learning Luxembourg, in collaboration with the University of Luxembourg and funded by the ministry of spatial planning, developed this digital platform to facilitate better synergies between the wide range of actors working on the ecological transition.

Composed of the two Luxembourgish words “Bierger” (citizen) and “Bedeelegung” (participation), the portal aims to fulfill two concrete goals: firstly, to publicise and give visibility to citizen and community transition projects in Luxembourg; secondly, to help citizens find initiatives in their community or region and facilitate their participation in local projects or contribute their expertise.

As more and more sustainable projects were launched by citizens and researchers alike, there was a growing need to create an interactive directory linking disparate projects such as third places, repair cafés, climate coaches, and citizen cooperatives as well as their respective members. On top of allowing members to connect and map these projects via BiBe, the portal is also a valuable tool for citizen participation and engagement.

Green Belt Project launches

Developed within the framework of the international call for projects by Luxembourg in Transition, the Green Belt Project aims to create a network of diverse and well-connected natural habitats around Luxembourg City and increase the quality of life.

The project is being designed by an international team of architects and experts, led by the Architects Office 2001. As part of this project, BiBe provides an ideal digital space to invite citizens to participate in the various initiatives that will be launched at a later stage.

To accelerate the ecological transition, the platforms Aktioun Nohaltegkeet and BiBe, will cooperate closely with the ministry of environment, climate and sustainable development, increasing available synergies and the dissemination of ecological projects and expertise.
