BIL’s Innovation Agenda

As a major player in Luxembourg’s innovation ecosystem, BIL is strengthening its commitment to seeking and supporting new talents. It will be partnering the next Startup World Cup on 22 March.

The semi-final of this internationally renowned competition will bring together dozens of European entrepreneurs to share their innovative projects. BIL is supporting the European stage of the competition as part of its ongoing search for new talents.

Meeting the talent driving innovation

BIL had already backed the first Startup World Cup in Luxembourg. Through this competition, the bank built close ties with participating entrepreneurs and saw certain entrants confirm their standing. One of the finalists in the 2017 event had also been put forward for that year’s BIL Woman Business Manager of the Year award. MyScienceWork is an example of a successful project supported by BIL.

Enriched by these encounters, BIL will be reaffirming its commitment at this year’s event in a bid to discover projects that will change the future scene both on a local and international level.

According to Pierre-Olivier Rotheval, Head of Innovation at BIL, “the Startup World Cup is a unique opportunity to introduce leaders of promising projects to experts able to support their ambitions. We are happy and proud to be standing alongside these entrepreneurs to encourage them in the development of their projects.”

“Through our own and our partners’ events, we are determined to support innovative projects in any business sector. To do this, we are constantly on the lookout for new talents to encourage”

A commitment to reflect our ambitions

Over the last three years, BIL has been fine-tuning its talent-spotting and confirming its position as a partner to innovation. On a booming scene, the bank is supporting entrepreneurs with their initiatives right from the earliest stage of creation. To meet entrepreneurs’ diverse needs, it uses a wide range of experts able to offer personalised support for projects and their creators. Luxembourg as a Startup Nation is a reality in which the bank wants to play an active, innovative role.

Innovation at the heart of BIL strategy

2018 will be a record year for BIL in terms of innovation. As well as attending the Startup World Cup, the bank has confirmed its involvement in a large number of related events. “Through our own and our partners’ events, we are determined to support innovative projects in any business sector. To do this, we are constantly on the lookout for new talents to encourage”, said Pierre-Olivier. The bank has created its own BIL Innovation Award as part of the Pitch Your Startup competition in collaboration with Docler Holding. It will reward an international newcomer at this European competition, to be held as part of the ICT Spring on 15 May.
