The ministry of economy, the national research fund and Luxinnovation are launching a second joint call for healthtech partnerships, offering the opportunity to match healthtech projects with business, research and healthcare expertise. Applications are open until March 2023.

After a first call for projects in 2021, the three players are launching a second joint call for healthtech partnerships with the objective of providing financial incentives to public-private consortia.

“The second edition of the Joint Call Healthtech, which is fully aligned with the national strategy for the healthtech sector, is aimed at accelerating the development of leading innovations aimed at improving public health,” comments Anne Meunier, Project Officer HealthTech at Luxinnovation.

Projects should focus on digital tools and make use of data analytics to offer solutions for the prevention, diagnosis, monitoring or treatment of health conditions, especially those with the goal of improving patient autonomy at home or in a care home.

As part of Luxembourg’s strategy to expand its healthtech sector, the call aims to build more partnerships between companies, research and healthcare organisations. The ministry of economy will provide selected private sector projects with up to €700k in funding and the FNR will provide selected research organisations with up to €500k.

To ease the application process, Luxinnovation is providing a matchmaking platform where interested participants can either share their project ideas or browse the ideas submitted by others. Once the right partners have been identified, consortia can being the application process.

“The first step is to submit a project outline by 31 March 2023,” explains Max Przybyl, Advisor – Corporate R&D and Innovation Support at Luxinnovation “The granting authorities will then provide feedback on whether the project idea is aligned with the objectives of the call and on the eligibility of the participating organisations.”

Successful consortia are invited to submit full project proposals by 14 July 2023. The formal funding decisions of successful applicants are expected in January 2024. In the meantime, interested applicants can sign up for the upcoming webinars about the joint call or read more about the application process.
