Within the framework of Esch2022, the European Capital of Culture, the city of Rumelange is inviting XR teams to apply for a residency. Applications are open until 2 May 2022.
Since 1985, the title European Capital of Culture has been awarded annually in Europe to highlight and celebrate diversity, encourage cross-cultural exchange and promote European values.
In 2022, Esch, together with 10 Pro-Sud municipalities and 8 municipalities in France, has been named the European Capital of Culture. Within the framework of Esch2022, the city of Rumelange has come up with its flagship XR project Spektrum.
The artistic concept for Spektrum will be carried out by an XR team led by Laura Mannelli and Mad Trix. The project will take place at Albert Hames’ former house which will be transformed into creative spaces, immersive guest rooms and a winter garden, among other things.
Thanks to its open architecture and its programming built, in large part, on the principles of the sharing economy and collaborative innovation, the site will fit perfectly into the trend of creative tourism, local nomadism and immersive experiences.
Artists in residence and local cultural associations will be invited to take on the roles of hosts or visitors, depending on their own projects and artistic approaches. Spektrum’s residency is aimed at an XR team whose project is in the prototyping phase and needs to be put into the hands of the public in order to validate certain elements.
