With one week to go before the opening of CYBERSECURITY Week Luxembourg 2022, Pascal Steichen, CEO of SECURITYMADEIN.LU and Chairman of the Governing Board of the European Cybersecurity Competence Network and Center (ECCC) talks about about the event and its specificities.

Luxembourg will celebrate CYBERSECURITY Week Luxembourg in October, with two special days (19 and 20 October) bringing together international, European and Luxembourgish actors of the cybersecurity ecosystem at Luxexpo The Box, to which the general public will be invited. The event is part of European Cybersecurity Month, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.

Pascal Steichen, what will be the highlights of the event?

This is the first time that Luxembourg is hosting such an event specifically dedicated to cybersecurity. First of all, the event will have some new features, one of them being focused on innovation and start-ups. We will organise a call for pitches, which will reward the most innovative start-ups in the field of cyber.

Another strong point is the European dimension of the event: the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre and Network (ECCC) Governing Board will organise its meeting in Luxembourg, Representatives of the 27 Member States, the European Commission (2 seats) and the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity-ENISA will be present in Luxembourg on these 2 days.

One of the major highlights will be a face-to-face exhibition at Luxexpo The Box. The goal is to bring together all the players in the sector in one place.

Conferences and a high-level panel discussions and foresight session “Towards a common cybersecure future”, involving international panelists, will be organised.

Finally, a gala dinner and the awards ceremony will close the event.

The exhibition will be the place to meet European and international experts and a place for everyone who wants to discover the cyber domain.

What will be the concrete benefits of this exhibition?

The Cybersecurity Week Luxembourg is part of Luxembourg’s continued efforts to boost European cooperation and collaboration.

The grand duchy has the advantage of being a small country and of having set up and tested a number of pilot projects. These are small-scale projects, but they will serve as examples to help shape this European idea of cross-border partnerships.

Since we are too small to go it alone, we naturally have to work together. So it’s a matter of trying to motivate other countries, and to encourage them to take a more collaborative approach.
