Luxinnovation, in partnership with Dealroom, has launched a platform dedicated to supporting and strengthening Luxembourg’s tech ecosystem.
An expected positive impact on the ecosystem
The public-facing Startup Directory aims to provide transparency and visibility to the Luxembourgish technology scene while connecting key players. Pierre Bonvalot, Partner & Ecosystem Manager at Dealroom.co, explains, “The objective of this public platform is to support Luxinnovation in its mission to bring more transparency and visibility to the Luxembourgish technology ecosystem. The Startup Directory aims to become a unique access point for everyone, allowing the measurement of the local tech scene’s evolution and connecting key stakeholders.”

Jonas Mercier, from Startup Luxembourg, highlights the dual purpose of the platform: promoting the Luxembourgish startup ecosystem internationally and providing local startups with global visibility. “We chose Dealroom because it specializes in data aggregation and platform creation for startup ecosystems. With a strong reputation in the industry, they work with over 70 ecosystems worldwide, primarily in Europe but also in North America and Asia. By joining this network, we ensure international visibility for our ecosystem”, tells Jonas Mercier, Coordinator of Startup Luxembourg.

Data at the heart of the platform
The platform utilizes various tools to gather publicly available information on startup actors, with the data’s freshness and comprehensiveness depending on the information shared by these actors online. The stakeholders’ active involvement in completing their profiles and maintaining a strong digital presence is crucial.
“At the local level, the platform showcases data on startups, scale-ups, incubators/accelerators, as well as investors and corporates. This enables connecting these actors and fosters a dynamic environment that benefits the entire economy,” adds Mercier. “Furthermore, the data and graphs available on the platform provide valuable insights, helping us better understand our ecosystem, its characteristics, and compare it to other ecosystems worldwide.”
Sara Bouchon, Director Market Intelligence at Luxinnovation, and in charge of the implementation of the Dealroom platform for Luxembourg, explains that the platform’s data accuracy and completeness are ensured through Dealroom’s automated data collection and regular updates.

The development of the Startup Directory was guided by the advice and local expertise of Luxinnovation,” hightlights Pierre Bonvalot. “The local community actively participates in this collaborative project, giving each startup the opportunity to validate their own information and enhance their visibility.”
Overall, the launch of Dealroom in Luxembourg signifies a significant step forward in promoting and nurturing the country’s thriving tech ecosystem.

Present at the VivaTech event to announce the platform’s launch, the Economy Minister highlighted how the platform aligns with the new roadmap for the development of the startup ecosystem in Luxembourg named “From Seed to Scale”.
“This new directory, launched in partnership with Dealroom, is an important step for the Luxembourg ecosystem. Dealroom has an international reputation – it already feeds more than 70 tech ecosystems around the world – and will enable us to actively promote specific aspects of our ecosystem to an international audience. At the same time, it will give each Luxembourg startup unique exposure to investors from around the world. Given that our ecosystem has already reached a certain level of maturity, it is now essential to focus our efforts on promoting it beyond our borders. In addition, Luxinnovation will be able to monitor the development of our startup ecosystem with this tool,” concludes Luxembourg’s economy minister Franz Fayot.
