Digital Tool Mobee Care Helps Elderly Staying Fit And Mobile

Not many people describe getting old as fun. Indeed, aching joints and stiff backs can complicate our life as we get older. However, as our knowledge of the human body has advanced, we have developed new ways of preventing early declines in our physical health. Mobee care offers one such solution that helps seniors stay fit and mobile.

With its mobee care product, SportMed A.G., the Luxembourg based health software specialist has developed a system that promises to maintain the health of seniors. As of today mobee care aims to keep people aged 60 and above mobile and independent. It is part of their wider diagnostic platform mobee 360 and is the first module that is specifically tailored to meet the needs of seniors.

Used by nursing staff and health professionals, mobee care offers various age- appropriate test batteries, such as the Senior Fitness Test, the 4km Walk Test as well as many others. The software records and analyses data on mobility, strength, coordination and endurance. The results of its analysis offer targeted training that improves the health of its users and motivates them with fun awards.

With Luxembourg’s average life expectancy reaching 82 years, SportMed A.G. sees no reason why the remaining decades after retirement should be led in poor health. That is why they designed an intuitive software that can be used without having any previous knowledge in the field of motion analysis.

Furthermore, their software, is not only limited to senior care facilities but it can also be used by fitness centres. By developing this software and making it widely available, SportMed A.G. hopes not only to increase the health of seniors but also to decrease their dependence on relatives and nursing staff. It is a win-win situation.

A study carried out in cooperation with the Nursing Therapeutic Center in Neubrandenburg shows that with continuous assessments and the implementation of the proposed measures, both the mobility and quality of life of seniors can be sustainably improved. The best part of the software is that it is relatively simple and not very time-consuming, thereby putting little stress on both staff and the elderly.

Funded by the Luxembourg Ministry of Economic Affairs, mobee care represents an elegant solution that has the potential to help the elderly age with grace and increased independence.
