Finnish-Luxembourg Business Club Brings The Future Of Work To Luxembourg

Recently founded Finnish-Luxembourg Business Club embraces the changes seen in the field of working life by choosing “Future of Work” for the theme of their first year.

The theme was kickstarted on September 28th with an online event featuring the Ambassador of Finland to Belgium and Luxembourg, Riitta Resch, a keynote speaker Hertta Vuorenmaa, the Director of Future Work at Aalto University, and expert panelists Niko Pulli, a CEO of Technopolis; Niina Mäenpää, a Relocation Psychologist; Carolina De Leon Brooks, an Executive Assistant at OQ Technology; and Ulla Willner, a Strategic Consultant focusing on reshaping the way people work, lead, and develop skills.

Why was the future of work selected as the theme?

Irene Mäkelä-Brunnekreef, the Co-Founder of the Finnish-Luxembourg Business Club, says that the goal of the business club is to capture topics that can provide valuable learnings for both countries.

“A hybrid working culture has been in use in Finland already long before the pandemic,” explains Mäkelä-Brunnekreef. “There is extensive research and proven best practices that can add value to companies in Luxembourg. This was our focus on the launch event, and it seems there are still lots of areas for further discussion.”

Another example Mäkelä-Brunnekreef mentions is the inclusion of international talent and development of multicultural teams, which are currently hot topics in Finland. In this area, Luxembourg can be considered a leading example in Europe.

“We will surely be covering these perspectives in the near future,” Mäkelä-Brunnekreef says.

What kind of activities are you going to host around the topic in the future?

Finnish-Luxembourg Business Club aims to promote business and encourage cooperation between Finnish and Luxembourgish companies.

“We will organise live events to strengthen the local Finnish business community, also as part of the other international business communities in Luxembourg,” says Mäkelä-Brunnekreef. “Through virtual events we want to facilitate valuable discussion between the two countries.”

What does the Finnish-Luxembourg Business Club bring to the field of business of Luxembourg?

“We will facilitate contacts between academia and business to help leaders benefit from the latest research and exchange views,” says Mäkelä-Brunnekreef. “We have the means to start connecting the innovation ecosystems and provide meaningful connections.”
