Fit 4 Start : A Tailor-made Program

After four editions, the Fit 4 Start program has seen many startups pass through its doors, including AIVA, the Artificial Intelligence Virtual Artist that uses an algorithm to compose classical music. AIVA Cofounders Arnaud Decker and Pierre Barreau just flew to California to join the Plug and Play Tech Center summer accelerator program.
What is AIVA?

AIVA is a form of artificial intelligence that composes music used in soundtracks for movies, video games, trailers and TV series. Our deep-learning algorithms learn the art of musical composition through the work of 15,000 scores of symphonic music written by the world’s greatest composers (Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, etc.)

What did the Fit 4 Start program bring you?

This program really has three assets: firstly, exposure to experienced entrepreneurs and investors who helped us define our project; secondly, a stimulating environment within Technoport, Luxembourg’s largest incubator; and finally, financial support that is essential at this stage in development.

What were the highlights of the program?

Each presentation we made to the program’s jury was a very interesting experience because it allowed us to take stock of the work carried out each month.

“Fit 4 Start allows young entrepreneurs to clearly define an action plan to execute their vision through coaching sessions and meeting with the other startups in the program.”

And the most significant moments of this intensive four-month session?

There have been some very memorable moments. For example, we had the opportunity to work with Nvidia, the American computer graphics giant, to compose music for one of their keynote presentations last May. On this occasion, we were able to meet CEO Jensen Huang who shared positive feedback: “We could not have been in better hands, virtual or otherwise.”

We also had the chance to see AIVA’s work performed by live (human) orchestras in music studios and concert halls. The original music composed for Luxembourg’s national holiday and performed by the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra was particularly successful!

Finally, we were honored to win the Pitch Your Startup contest organized by Docler Holding and Luxinnovation last May.

Why should a startup apply to this program?

This allows young entrepreneurs to clearly define an action plan to execute their vision through coaching sessions and meeting with the other startups in the program.

What are your development plans for the coming months?

We have several: to continue our sales tour, to achieve new deals with big productions, and to scale our value proposition by composing music driven by visual influences (videos, images) or concepts (scenario, musical briefing, synopsis).

By the way, how is California?

Warm, welcoming and open to great ideas!
