skeeled, a Luxembourg-based recruitment software company has today appointed its first official CEO, Luxembourg-native Mike Reiffers.

Over the last years, skeeled has continuously evolved its technology and services and has established a strong presence on the Luxembourgish market. “If you look at local software providers in our field, we can say our technology is unique and adaptable to every industry and hiring process”, Mike points out.

When it comes to recruitment, Mike says “skeeled covers everything that happens between a job board or a career page and the onboarding of a candidate once hired”. From predictive hiring and candidate experience to employer branding and diversity and inclusion – skeeled is an all-in-one solution to help companies attract and hire top talent.

The idea started when Mike and Nicolas Speeckaert were studying together at university in 2014. Both inspired by technology and facing the hard recruitment processes on the market, they decided to change the HR standards. “We needed to understand recruiters and how to make their work easier, but we also wanted to make sure candidates can benefit from the best experience when applying for jobs.” Mike says.

By 2016, they had built the software, signed their first clients, and were named HR Startup of the year. Fast forward to today, skeeled is a leader in the Belux HR tech space.

“Since day one I’ve put my heart into this company. It means a lot to me and I’m really proud to become now the CEO and lead the company.” says Mike. “We focused a lot on developing the technology, strategy and making the company what it is today. We believe now it is also the right moment to name our first CEO. We have the right team around us and to move forward in an organised manner, it was important to finally divide the responsibilities among us. Nicolas will focus on the technology and innovation side with our R&D team in Porto, Portugal and I will focus on strengthening even further our impact on the local market with our team based in Luxembourg.”

“I believe one key element will be to bring the spirit and work environment back that we used to have at skeeled.”

Luxembourg proud

Mike explains “more than 80% of our clients are local, and we’ve built a lot of trust and support from local organizations around us. This country has a great business environment, and we’re proud of the fact that we’re ‘Made in Luxembourg’. It is a market I know very well; I understand the needs and I will adapt our future strategy accordingly.”

How COVID-19 amplified the need for digitalization in recruitment

During the global pandemic and without the ability for face-to-face contact, many of skeeled’s clients quickly realized the many advantages of using a streamlined digital recruitment tool.

“By digitalizing the recruitment process, it allows companies to hire faster with a more seamless approach to hiring top talent” Mike says.

“The candidate experience is also key. From the moment the candidate clicks ‘apply’, it’s important to have the right tools in place to ensure the candidate has a positive experience – regardless of whether or not they get the job. The aftermath from Covid-19 is how digital the whole recruitment process has become.”

Whether it’s advising their customers on how to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), or providing predictive hiring tools – skeeled is always on top of the latest market trends.

Mike says “We research and read a lot, and we also gather insights directly from our customers to uncover pain points. We use these findings to evolve our solutions to meet the needs of our customers. We are far from being at the peak of what technology can offer.”

The future of skeeled

Mike has a positive outlook for the future. “skeeled will continue to innovate and add new features to our software to bring best practices to the recruitment industry and increase even further the modularity to adapt to HR departments and their needs.” Mike also looks forward to reuniting his employees after challenging years during the pandemic – with some employees not having seen each other for over two years. “I believe one key element will be to bring the spirit and work environment back that we used to have at skeeled. It will be different, and we have to adapt to how people see their workplace now, but I am aware of the importance of defining a new adapted work environment of tomorrow.”
