In the frame of the Luxembourg Standardization Strategy 2020-2030, ILNAS has published a new report “Technical Standardization: addressing Cloud Computing challenges and supporting related ICT development”, which was presented during a breakfast organized by ILNAS and ANEC GIE on Tuesday, June 14th, 2022.
First, the document provides an overview of Cloud Computing concepts and its major challenges such as security, transparency, interoperability and portability and then focuses on the role of technical standardization in the development of the technology. Thus, it introduces the major technical committees related to Cloud Computing and gives examples of standards addressing the identified challenges. The document then explains the links between Cloud Computing and other Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, software engineering, etc., and identifies standards facilitating the expansion of these interconnected technologies. Finally, while considering the importance of using ad hoc technical standards, the document explains how to actively contribute to their development by becoming a national standardization delegate in Luxembourg.
