Luxembourg — On November 19 2014 Women’s Entrepreneurship Day (WED) will be launched at the United Nations headquarters with the support of local initiatives in a 144 countries, including Luxembourg, to celebrate female contributions to business.
A panel discussion organized by WED Luxembourg will be hosted by SnT and the University of Luxembourg on the Kirchberg campus, which are contributing greatly to the success of the day. The Event will be opened by Marjut Santoni, Deputy Chief Executive of the European Investment Fund in the European Investment Bank. Followed by an impressive set of female role models from a variety of backgrounds, professions and organisations embodying the entrepreneurial & leadership lifestyle.
Women’s Entrepreneurship Day is a worldwide movement that will carry throughout the year in support of female entrepreneurs on every continent. The defining goal is to empower women and their businesses, as well as gather a think tank of female leaders, which will ultimately create an amplified merged message to expand businesses with social good initiatives in communities locally and globally.
The total number of women on the planet since 2013 is almost 3.6 Billion! Yet, the World Economic Forum reports that no nation has yet to achieve gender equality – depending on where they live, women only have access to 58-70% of the economic, educational, health and political resources and opportunities available to men.
The Luxembourg event will be moderated by Amy Rose, Senior Counsel of Litigation at Altisource and will feature six local female entrepreneurs. Aude Lomogne, Founder and Director at Link Management Sarl; Dorothea Bekker, Representative of The Network Luxembourg, Entrepreneur and Coach; Feyrouz Ashoura, Fashion Sculptress; Genna Elvin, Chief Marketing Officer at TaDaweb; Dr.Patrice Caire, Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust; Rana Hein-Hartmann, Founder & Executive Director at Funds Partnership.
The panel promises to be an inspiring and engaging conversation on female entrepreneurial leadership and achievements in Luxembourg and around the world.
The WED NYC launch at UN headquarters will be live streamed at 8:45 a.m. EST (2:45 p.m. CET) to 5:30 p.m. EST (11:30 p.m. CET) on November 19, 2014 on UN WEB TV: webtv.un.org. To maintain momentum after November 19 a social media campaign will launch on December 3rd #WomenWOW to encourage everyone to support women owned businesses and causes.
