InnoMate Luxembourg: how to make the world a better place through innovation and creativity in business

It’s time to discover InnoMate, a new group of (and for) entrepreneurs opened in August in Luxembourg. We met Giuseppe Ferraioli, one of the local organiser, during our last Silicon Drinkabout Luxembourg event; and asked him to give us more details about his initiative. Passionate about innovation and creativity in business he decided to set up InnoMate to foster the collaboration between entrepreneurs. Dozens of people have already joined the group and meet once or twice a month to debate on an in demand topic.

Giuseppe, you just arrived in Luxembourg and set up InnoMate Group, a network of entrepreneurs and investors, what is the purpose of this group?

This network intends to bring together diverse perspectives on a common goal: how to make the world a better place; through innovation and creativity in business and by connecting entrepreneurs with investors.

Therefore it is for everyone interested in informal exchange of knowledge and experience on this common goal. The aim is also to foster a solidarity and support network which is based on open collaboration. The exchanges will provide the participants a space to talk about their stories of success as well as failure.

InnoMate is a worldwide initiative, how do consider innovation in Luxembourg?

Innovation is part of the Luxembourg DNA. One example is when from the 70’s, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, was looking for the use of a broadcasting satellite, in order to convert its industrial economy based upon metallurgy through an audiovisual strategy at Europe’s dimension. This innovation backed the process of audiovisual deregulation for Europe without frontiers.

Today, thanks to its 53 geostationary satellites, one of the smallest country in Europe – 82km x 57km extends until 35 800km high. Having, for each geostationary position, a virtual cube whose side is 70km, Luxembourg has more space in the Outer Space than on Earth.

Isn’t that innovative?

Tonight, the topic of the event is “how to pitch to investors”, how did you come up with it?

We want to bring entrepreneurs and investors together. “How to pitch to investors” teaches us a common language to make the link between two words that are looking for the same thing: being successful.

The group is based on open collaboration, and operates without hierarchy and collective leadership, does it work?

In less than 2 months we organized three content-rich events, in three different co-working spaces, putting together high-level presenters with a passionate and interactive audience.

I dare say it works very well.
