InTech is one of the flagship companies of the Luxembourgish tech industry and a long-time supporter of the ecosystem. Its proven expertise in the development of tech applications and space technologies has opened them up to new opportunities and projects. Silicon Luxembourg caught up with Philippe Eymann, the Director InTech who is in charge of SpaceTech projects.

What services do you offer at InTech and what are your areas of expertise?

InTech is a Luxembourg-based services company, founded in 1995, which has been part of the POST Group since 2014. We currently employ about 140 employees who specialize in the design and implementation of custom software solutions, which we integrate into our clients’ IT ecosystem.

We believe that innovation and identification of the most suitable technologies for a given problem are the keys to successful projects. We design solutions and carry out complex projects with the help of our development experts, UX specialists, technical architects and project managers.

Areas covered include mobile development and web application development using the latest standards, but also more specific technologies such as Blockchain or artificial intelligence, for which we have recognized expertise.

“Some solutions should be embedded in the medium term directly in satellites.”

How do space technologies serve your development projects?

We have participated in the design of several innovative solutions in collaboration with our partners, in various fields such as the validation of digital assets, the advanced prediction of soil moisture levels, or the management of secure communication keys through a Blockchain.

These projects are built using space resources and technologies such as geolocation / GNSS provided by the Galileo and GPS constellations, or satellite imagery with Hyperscout for example. Our experts have developed specific libraries to retrieve these signals and data and process them in relation to the project objective. Some solutions should be embedded in the medium term directly in satellites.

You (co-)organize two major hackathons in Luxembourg: Space Hack and Act In Space. How do you support project leaders?

We indeed organize these two hackathons alternately from one year to the other, the last edition of Space Hack was held in November 2021 with the help of the Technoport in Esch Belval.

During the 24 hours of this event, the different teams were supported by more than 40 technical or business coaches from various backgrounds, who assist them in the construction of their draft solution. They make it a point of honour to design concrete and feasible answers to the technical challenges that are addressed, in addition to considering the economic aspects of projects.

In this sense, the first prize of Space Hack 2021 includes a Concurrent Design session in the corresponding structure of the University of Luxembourg, which will take place in spring 2022 and which aims at producing a first prototype of the solution.
