Luxembourg touchless screen firm iNUI Studio has signed up Quebec fast food chain St-Hubert to roll out its contactless screens in its ordering kiosks.

The news was announced on 22 June, during Luxembourg’s economic mission to Canada, for which iNUI formed part of the delegation.

INUI positions its AIR TOUCH technology as more hygienic than touch screens, but with  an equivalent price.

According to iNUI, St-Hubert was part of the three “early bird” companies to implement the solution and the “very first in North America.”

Last week’s agreement sets out a plan to install 24 of the contactless ordering kiosks in 20 St-Hubert restaurants in the Quebec region, with another batch of devices to be installed later this year.

St-Hubert has 120 restaurants, notably in Quebec, while its parent company, Recipe Unlimited Group, has over 3,000 restaurants in Canada and Europe.

“We believe that several companies will consider upgrading their restaurants with our technology,” Olivier Raulot, founder, owner and CEO of iNUI Studio, told Silicon Luxembourg. “Firstly because the foodservice industry has been heavily impacted by the covid-19 crisis in Canada. And our contactless kiosks are a good way to facilitate the operations (fast ordering process, less wait for the clients, respond to the labor shortage) while enabling an amazing experience for the clients.”

INUI Studio, which was founded in 2010 and today has offices in Foetz, has patented its touchless interactive technology. AIRxTOUCH is an interactive kiosk with a screen that can be operated remotely, just by motion capture, with the advantage of presenting no health risk. The firm is currently focused on increasing its exposure in Canada and the US, and is considering opening a subsidiary and production line in Canada.

Raulot said: “The idea is to provide the best level of service and be physically closer to our clients and to the market as well. In Europe, we are also working on several very exciting projects that can’t be revealed at this stage.”

The firm has meanwhile started a €4m fundraising process to scale up the company and move forward on the North America market. Read more about iNUI Studio on Silicon Luxembourg here.
