A new partnership will allow Kleos Space to provide a more comprehensive intelligence and reconnaissance offering for government and commercial customers.

As space becomes more crowded, partnerships between space companies become more important to continue providing competitive services. The latest partnership between Luxembourg-based radio-frequency provider Kleos Space and Satellogic, a leading provider of high-resolution satellite imagery exemplifies this.

Currently, Satellogic’s 17 low earth orbit satellites allow it to provide high-resolution, high-frequency geospatial data for mainstream applications. With Kleos’ eight satellites providing radio frequency (RF) transmissions over key areas of interest, the partnership will enable both companies to provide a more comprehensive offering to their clients.

“Satellogic is a complementary geospatial data and analytics provider, and we are leveraging our combined products and technology to secure large scale government and commercial tenders,” says Kleos Chief Revenue Officer Eric von Eckartsberg.

“Collaboration is key in advancing geospatial technology for complex and global-scale missions.”

Intelligence, Surveillance And Reconnaissance

In practical terms, both companies will layer their respective data sets to provide a comprehensive intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (IRS) offering. Greater than the sum of its parts, these integrated data sets will allow commercial customers and governments to improve their situational awareness and make more informed decisions.

Going forward, this partnership will also help both companies take on bigger projects and work on new innovations.

“Collaboration is key in advancing geospatial technology for complex and global-scale missions. We believe this partnership will accelerate the development and deployment of breakthrough ISR capabilities to enable more effective and timely strategies in identifying and mitigating emerging threats,” says Matt Tirman, President at Satellogic North America.

With Kleos expected to add 8 further satellites in H1 2022 and Satellogic expected to scale its constellation to 60+ satellites in orbit by 2023 for weekly global coverage, and 200+ by 2025, the partnership seems like one worth keeping an eye on.
