The City of Luxembourg, with over 125,000 inhabitants and 20% of the country’s population, is now connected to the LU-CIX infrastructure.

As a member of LU-CIX, the city will provide faster, more secure and stable traffic while keeping it within the nation’s borders. Additionally, it allows the city to be fully part of the LU-CIX community and gather and bring together local experts of the Internet.

The City of Luxembourg’s ICT Department plays a crucial role in meeting the needs of its residents and commuters, and the department is responsible for managing IT infrastructures and tools, applications for the municipal administration and citizens, and the development and implementation of digitalization strategies.

Claude Demuth, the chairman of LU-CIX ASBL stated that the goal of LU-CIX is to showcase Luxembourg on the European state-of-the-art ICT hubs map, and joining LU-CIX will enable the City of Luxembourg to optimise its national internet traffic and improve the quality of its online services.

Finally, Luxembourg City Chief Alderman Serge Wilmes explained that internet access has become a crucial and even strategically key factor for many, including the City of Luxembourg. By joining LU-CIX, the city will become more accessible, bringing it closer to its citizens and remote workers.
