Luxembourg Launches Its Healthcare Week Awards 2023

The competition is organized by the Luxembourg Hospital Federation (FHL), its partners and the European Association of Hospital Managers, during the Healthcare Week Luxembourg on 20 to 22 September 2023 at Luxexpo The Box in Luxembourg. The three most promising startups and projects in terms of innovation will be awarded.

The Luxembourg Hospital Federation (FHL), its partners and the European Association of Hospital Managers will organize the first Healthcare Week Luxembourg Awards 2023.

The competition will take place during the first edition of the Healthcare Week Luxembourg (“HWL”) from 20 to 22 September 2023 at Luxexpo The Box in Luxembourg.

Three categories are proposed. The three most promising startups and projects in terms of innovation will be awarded on 21 September during a gala evening.

The startup of the year presenting an ambitious and promising project contributing to the improvement of the health sector will be awarded by the FHL, the Luxembourg Ministry of the Economy and Luxinnovation.

The medical project carrying out a direct or indirect collaboration with a hospital and offering a relevant solution for the health sector will be awarded by the FHL and the Society of Medical Sciences of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

The best innovative project in the field of hospital management in Europe and neighbouring countries will be awarded by the European Association of Hospital Directors.

Registration is open. The three finalist candidates in each category will be selected by a jury composed of professionals from the health sector.

They will then be invited to give a live pitch, in front of the public on 20 and 21 September. Only one candidate per category will be awarded at the end of the presentations.

The main application criteria provide that: 

All projects must have already been “launched” at least in a test/pilot phase with a hospital or a network of hospitals.

  • Applicants are located in the Greater Region.
  • Applicants must be a not-for-profit healthcare organization, e.g., a hospital, a hospital network, a university, a certified medical center, or a registered medical society located in the Greater Region. Applicants may not be individuals.
  • Applications must be submitted in English, French or German.
  • Applicants have until 15 July 2023, to send their completed application to: [email protected]

  • Announcement of the shortlisted finalists: 8 September 2023.
  • Finalists’ Pitch Day: TBD – But will be on the 1st or 2nd day of the HWL event 20 or 21 September 2023.
  • Winners and Awards Ceremony: 21 September 2023.

Established in 1948, then formalized as an association in 1965, the Fédération des Hôpitaux luxembourgeois (FHL) brings together all hospitals in Luxembourg (9,000 employees and more than 1,000 specialist doctors).

The first edition of Healthcare Week Luxembourg is organized on the initiative of the Federation of Luxembourg Hospitals (FHL) in partnership with the event agency Quinze Mai (QM). The cross-border event will be dedicated to exchanges and actions to strengthen our health system.

The topics addressed during the event include digitalization and technological developments in the sector; research and innovation; the attractiveness, training, development and motivation of human capital; organizational and cultural innovation; quality management; communication; ethics; the sharing and protection of health data and the future of health system financing. Thousands of participants are expected.

The European Association of Hospital Directors is a pan-European, non-profit, non-political organization that brings together national and regional organisations of hospital directors and health executives. It does not pursue any political, economic or confessional objectives.

AEDH represents the directors of public and private hospitals in the European Union and internationally. Founded in 1970 under French law, the instance currently brings together 19 major associations of hospital directors in 18 European countries, representing more than 16,000 individual members.
