On 5 July, the Minister of the Economy Franz Fayot and Sasha Baillie, the CEO of Luxinnovation, officially launched Startup Luxembourg, a platform dedicated to the Luxembourg’s startup ecosystem.

The public initiative is financed by the Ministry of the Economy, managed by Luxinnovation, Luxembourg’s national innovation agency, and supported by the national startup ecosystem, which includes 507 startups and 15 incubators and accelerators.

Its objective, as mentioned on their web portal, is to “develop a strong and unique identity for the Luxembourg startup ecosystem and showcase its dynamism and maturity, to be the first point of entry into the startup ecosystem at the international level, to provide national and international startups with a direct access to the right ecosystem partner to develop their business and to represent Luxembourg’s startup ecosystem and showcase its advantages at major international events.”

“This is the right time to accelerate the international promotion of Luxembourg as a startup hub. That is one of the main objectives pursued with the creation of the platform,” Fayot said.

“The digital platform belongs to the entire startup community,” Baillie emphasized. “It can only function when those it has been made for, truly adopt it and make it their own.”

The portal will be used to aggregate all the news of the ecosystem, startups can publish their own news, but also to have an overview and instantaneous ecosystem with a dynamic update of data via the Microsoft Power BI tool. All the key players listed there will be able to be contacted directly via this portal, which aims to be the one-stop shop for the startup ecosystem.

“Startup Luxembourg is the entry point for whoever is interested in our startup ecosystem, but it is also about guiding and channelling the visitor to the right partner depending on his needs,” confirmed Laurent Futin, Head of Digital Marketing & Communication at Luxinnovation.

“The official launch of this site was expected and is a positive and encouraging sign. It reflects the dynamism of our startup ecosystem for several years now,” testifies Charles-Louis Machuron, founder and CEO of Silicon Luxembourg. “As a media dedicated to startups and the digital economy, we have seen a significant increase in the number of news items in recent years and we are happy to see that entrepreneurs continue to innovate more and more. We are very excited to see how the launch of this tool will help the development of Luxembourg’s startup ecosystem and looks forward to continue being a hub of news, knowledge and networking.”
