Luxembourgish Artists Enter INNSiDE By Melià Luxembourg’s Fairtrade Design Contest

To celebrate their partnership with Fairtrade Lëtzebuerg, INNSiDE by Melià Luxembourg’s hotel is hosting a competition for Luxembourg’s local artists. The artists are given the chance to add their own designs to the uniforms of one of Europe’s most sustainable hotel chains as well as a two-night stay in one of their European hotels.

Creating partnerships that bring value to both parties is no easy task. Creating partnerships that create value to both parties, the planet and involve the local population is even harder. Yet INNSiDE by Meliá Luxembourg and Fairtrade Lëtzebuerg seem to have achieved just that.

As part of their sustainability model and their commitment to promoting local artists, INNSiDE by Meliá Luxembourg has partnered with Fairtrade Lëtzebuerg to launch a late summer contest for Luxembourg’s budding creatives. This contest will give them the opportunity to showcase their talent and gain local and international visibility.

Other than exposure, the winner will also have his or her work printed on a limited edition Fairtrade t-shirt for sale at the hotel’s boutique and will get to select an INNSiDE by Meliá hotel in Europe where they can enjoy a free two-night stay for two people.

The artists have until October 10, 2021 to enter this Fairtrade competition. On October 14, 2021, the winner will be announced and the INNSiDE by Meliá Luxembourg will also present the designs and t-shirts created by artists across other countries.

Sustainable hotels

While sustainability is in the mouths of everyone nowadays, Meliá practiced the values associated with sustainability long before it became the hip and right thing to do for businesses.

“Sustainability is part of the Meliá Group’s values and strategy, and we try to implement this approach at the local level in the more than 40 countries where we are present,” explains Javier Segura, resident manager of INNSiDE by Meliá Luxembourg.

Sustainability and social justice have been part of their values and strategy since 2008 and are based on the United Nations Sustainable Development goals. Their commitment to these causes have earned them multiple international awards, including a recent Silver rating from S&P Global in the Corporate Sustainability Assessment 2021.
