LuxLogAI: The Artificial Intelligence Festival

What is LuxLogAI?

With the recent advances made in Artificial Intelligence (AI), more and more intelligent systems are entering the spheres of industry and private life from credit ranking systems to smartwatches. AI’s current biggest challenge is to reach transparency, incorporate ethics and conform to legal legislation. Clarity and transparency are fundamental for increasing societal trust in AI technology by raising our confidence in the machines we are increasingly depending on.

With its special focus on responsible AI, the objective of The Luxembourg Logic for AI Summit (LuxLogAI 2018) is to present the latest developments and progress made on the crucial question of how to make AI more transparent, and hence more accountable.

LuxLogAI 2018 will feature the following events:

  • The 2nd International Joint Conference on Rules and Reasoning (RuleML+RR 2018),
  • DecisionCAMP 2018,
  • The 14th Reasoning Web Summer School (RW 2018),
  • The 4th Global Conference on Artificial Intelligence (GCAI 2018),
  • The MIREL 2018 workshop, and
  • The Deduktionstreffen 2018

What do you expect from such an event?

The Luxembourg Logic for AI Summit is interdisciplinary and seeks to gather researchers, practitioners, lawmakers and even officials to collaborate and exchange expertise and ideas with the objective of promoting and achieving responsible and transparent AI.

The contributions this conference intends to make to the field are i) to increase general knowledge about how to make AI more transparent using rule-based reasoning methods ii) to provide a forum of mutual exchange of latest research results at national and international level, (iii) to stimulate innovation and knowledge transfer between academia and industry, iv) to identify next big challenges for AI.

Organizing the event in Luxembourg will be beneficial in several respects, including: (i) it will enhance the visibility of the University of Luxembourg at international level, (ii) it will provide a forum of mutual exchange of latest research results at national and international level, (iii) it will stimulate innovation and knowledge transfer between academia and industry, (iv) it will be of interest regarding the recruitment of talented young researchers, and (v) it will provide an excellent opportunity for young researchers in Luxembourg to discuss their research work with other participants of the event and to network with first-class international researchers.
