The payment solution provider’s acquisition of WhenThen will support them in increasing the reach of their payment services to marketplaces and platforms alike.

Founded only a year ago, WhenThen is a Dublin-based payments technology company that powers payment acceptance and automates payment operations for online businesses.

“Acquiring WhenThen enables Mangopay to rapidly accelerate its payment capabilities whilst providing one of the best payment experiences in the market,” said Romain Mazeries, CEO of Mangopay.

This announcement comes just four months after partnering with fraud experts Nethone and is part of Mangopay’s growth strategy. Mangopay’s vision includes supporting platforms in their growth by allowing them to choose whichever features most suit them “whether that’s payment methods, wallets, onboarding experiences or fast payouts.”

By combining both WhenThen and Mangopay, customers will be able to seamlessly build and configure revenue-optimizsing payment flows using a no-code interface, securely store, and access customer card data and automate time-consuming payment operations, among other things.

“Platform-based businesses, big and small, seek flexibility in how they build and operate their payment stack as they strive to meet their growth and revenue targets,” said Kirk Donohoe, former co-founder, and CEO of WhenThen.

While the acquisition already took place a couple of months ago, WhenThen’s entire team and products have only now fully merged with Mangopay. They will operate under the Mangopay brand, with Kirke Donohoe, WhenThen’s co-founder joining Mangopay’s executive committee as CPO.
