On June 26 and 27, Luxembourg’s newest international tech event Nexus2050 will host its inaugural edition. Co-founders Mike Koedinger and Kamel Amroune tell us more about what to expect from the event which will gather over 5000 attendees, 200 industry-leading speakers and a dedicated startup hub.
Why did you decide to organise Nexus2050 ‘The International Tech Pulse’?
MK: When Docler Holding decided to liquidate Farvest, who was the organiser of ICT Spring for over ten years, it was obvious someone had to step in. The market needs an international tech event in Luxembourg, ICT Spring has become an annual meeting point.
A few weeks after that announcement, it was obvious that Kamel Amroune, the CEO and founder of tech marketing agency the Dots would be the perfect partner for us if we would produce the event. Kamel has been the co-founder of ICT Spring and used to be a partner at Farvest. Within a few days, we made a 50/50 deal and created the E.I.G. Nexus2050. Luxembourg needs this international platform to attract companies, to showcase its ecosystem and to generate business as well as to inspire participants.
Which audience segment stands to benefit the most from attending your event?
KA: Nexus2050 has several districts and each of them has its own stage: The Finance district which has been programmed in collaboration with The Lhoft, ABBL, ALFI, ACA, LPEA, CSSF and Luxembourg for Finance. There’s the Puretech District and the Skillsphere District. And we have a mainstage, plus numerous side events. GenAI, Cybersecurity, Fintech, Sustainability, Skills will be leading topics. We have approx. 100 exhibitors, +100 startups, 200 speakers, 5 stages. It’s worth spending some time checking the detailed program.
In many ways, Nexus2050 can be considered the successor of the discontinued tech event ICT Spring. How does it distinguish itself from it?
MK: Different times need different events. Nexus2050 is an international hub for stakeholders combining ecological and digital transitions, aiming to leverage technology for the benefit of governments, organisations and businesses to achieve their net-zero strategies by 2050. It’s about using technology to advance human progress, considering both productivity gains and addressing pressing ethical issues.
More than 200 speakers will be at Nexus2050. Which speakers should our readers interested in entrepreneurship and AI not miss?
KA: AI will be on every stage, check for your specific interests. For entrepreneurs, I could think of the fireside chat between Mark Tluszcz and Norbert Becker
What do you hope international attendees take away from this Luxembourg-hosted event?
MK: I hope they’ll leave Luxembourg and think about coming back next year. Nexus2050 embodies a boutique-style event; a gathering crafted to ignite inspiration while preserving an intimate, human-scale atmosphere. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to forge genuine connections with the individuals who will truly matter to you. We expect 5.000 participants, enough to make worthy connections while not getting lost at the event.
