No Big Deal Partner With Tessy de Nassau To Plant Trees

There’s no doubt that rewards incentivise people to keep active. Interestingly though, people aren’t just driven by individual benefits. Altruism can be a motivating factor too, as local wellness startup, No Big Deal, has found. They’re testing this with their latest challenge in collaboration with former Princess of Luxembourg, Tessy Antony de Nassau.

No Big Deal has been encouraging people to get active in order to win prizes for over a year now. By partnering with brands and organisations, locally and globally, they offer rewards in exchange for steps. This could be anything from discounts on your favourite brands, to a free drink at your favourite restaurant.

Community-based challenges incentivise people to keep fit

Whilst challenges that reward the individual are very popular, No Big Deal has also seen a growing interest in challenges that benefit the wider community. Gamifying health via charitable causes has proven to be a powerful incentive to get people more active, and lead to habit creation in the long term. In particular, challenges that have a sustainability component to them have been very attractive. For example, a recent partnership with local food delivery company, Foozo, led to 500 trees being planted.

“My own pursuits are grounded in my mission to empower, elevate, and encourage voices of the world because each one of us can make a difference, and together we can change.”

To date, No Big Deal challenges have resulted in over 2500 trees being planted and more than 200kg of waste being removed from the oceans. Through these challenges, No Big Deal aims to not only help people keep fit, but to engage businesses and individuals in activities that benefit the community. As co-founder, Nigel Bergstra, points out, these challenges ‘enable businesses to undertake green initiatives in a way that includes the wider community while supporting their health.’

Tessy’s Tree Challenge helps reforest the Amazon

No Big Deal’s latest sustainability challenge is being launched in collaboration with the former Princess of Luxembourg, Tessy Antony de Nassau. Through her philanthropy and advocacy work, Tessy is focused on bringing people together globally through different education and empowerment projects. As she states, “my own pursuits are grounded in my mission to empower, elevate, and encourage voices of the world because each one of us can make a difference, and together we can change.” In addition, she has her own sustainable fashion brand, and Tessy’s Tree Challenge reflects these interests.

The aim is to plant 1000 trees in the Amazon Rainforest via a global tree planting NGO. Through Tessy’s Tree Challenge, one tree will be planted in the Amazon Rainforest for each person that successfully walks 40,000 steps in 6 days, or runs 5km in 50 minutes. It’s a tough challenge, but based on previous experience, one that people are likely to rise to.
