Together with Bancontact Payconiq Company, Payconiq International has released a new digital meal voucher solution, designed to transform the way brands currently offer their vouchers.

A digital solution that significantly supports the brands business and improves the customer experience. The solution, already launched in Belgium and soon in Luxembourg, makes the acceptance of in store meal voucher payments possible without needing a payment terminal.

Consumers can add their meal vouchers to the Payconiq by Bancontact app, to make faster voucher payments, check their voucher transaction history and monitor their voucher balance. The new solution makes it very easy for voucher brands to connect with customers via their mobile device, streamline the buying experience and add extra services.

Over two million employees in Belgium currently receive meal vouchers as part of their work remuneration as a tax-free benefit from their employer, traditionally using a dedicated payment card. With this new solution, employees can add these as new methods of payment to the Payconiq by Bancontact app and use them as simply and easily as any other form of digital payment, paying by QR code.

Guido Vermeent, CEO of Payconiq International: “Meal vouchers are undoubtedly one of the most widespread, well-loved, and important employee benefits in Belgium and Luxembourg. Our goal with digitising vouchers and prepaid card payments is to enable our partners to give their clients, the best payment experience possible for this crucial service. We’re committed to making payments smart, simple, and flexible, to enable our partners to provide innovative value-added services like digital meal vouchers or hybrid payment options.”

As more consumers and brands business adopt mobile and digital payments, payment providers need new ways to offer convenience, speed, and security. Payconiq International’s range of solutions enables both seamless transactions and fast payment for users while making digital transformation and payment acceptance practical for merchants. These tools also help businesses prepare for the new generation of POS terminals, hosting additional functionality to bring value-added services such as payment acceptance.

This new solution is the first step towards Payconiq’s vision for a world where consumers can use multiple voucher types from different schemes, such as Monizze, Sodexo, and Edenred, to pay for food and non-food stores in a single payment experience.

“The Payconiq by Bancontact app is constantly evolving and innovating with new features. The features for sharing a restaurant bill, buying bus or train tickets, donating money to a good cause, etc. are already in place. Now comes the ability to pay with meal vouchers,” says Nathalie Vandepeute, CEO of Bancontact Payconiq Company. “This is another way to make life easier for our users. We’re convinced that not just consumers, but merchants will benefit from meal vouchers being included in the Payconiq by Bancontact app, helping them accept the vouchers without the need for a payment terminal.”
