Posture AI is a South Korean, Luxembourg-based startup using posture-racking devices and AI software to improve people’s posture and alleviate back pain. Along with its SaaS platform, it aims to provide a complete “back pain ecosystem” for patients, businesses, insurance companies, and more.

As many upsides as there are to our sedentary, chair-bound lifestyles, chronic back pain is not one of them. According to Posture AI’s co-founder and head of markets William Choi, back pain is “the number one cause of disability worldwide” and a significant cost to healthcare providers around the world.

“We’re solving this problem by developing a cutting-edge AI/ML data management and analytics platform combining 3D motion detection using a single camera and our unique posture sensor technology, providing the most targeted posture data captured in real-time, says William.

The company also gives users the option to connect existing wearables such as the Fitbit or Apple and Galaxy smartwatches and subscribe to their platform for an ergonomic shirt with a smart sensor that monitors their posture throughout the day.

All the collected data is uploaded to its secure cloud platform where corporate wellness, insurance companies, and performance sports can receive customised exercises and programmes adapted to each user’s particular postural footprint, increasing overall productivity and performance, while reducing costs.

“The company is a hybrid platform where hardware devices and software can be used independently or together through their subscription offerings, which is the backbone of the business allowing the versatility of integrating targeted products & services customized for enterprise and for the end-user,” explains William.

Esports, corporate wellness, and more

In the first instance, Posture AI is providing its tiered subscription model to Esports athletes, offering their posture-correcting shirts and seats free of charge. In its second year, the healthtech aims to target corporate wellness and insurance companies and as soon as it has received its CE certification it will enter the medical device market.

“Though we are generating revenue through our e-commerce channels and existing partnerships first, in the end, we will be mostly focused on B2B and B2B2C,” explains William.

Luxembourg Healthtech Hub

Incorporated in Luxembourg in 2023, Posture AI is a recent graduate of Fit 4 Start that has already found support in the local market and beyond. Indeed, the healthtech is not only supported by the Korean government and LG’s SuperStart program but also by local players such as Post and Foyer.

“We want to be a part of Luxembourg’s healthtech hub and help put Luxembourg on the map,” says William, adding: “We want to have our global data centre in Luxembourg and expand from there when the time is right.”

Posture AI has just recently closed its Pre-Series A round that will add more features to its platform, and start bringing in revenue by the end of this year.
