Remich’s 3rd startup event aims to enhance the city’s development by fostering growth, sustainability, and connections with startups. Jacques Sitz, the mayor of the City of Remich, tells us more about this edition.

Mayor, what do you expect from Remich’s 3rd startup event and its impact on the city’s development?

The goals of this year’s startup event are to continuously grow the event, to create synergies between the city, startups, and potential clients, to promote sustainability and innovation, and to continue to build a platform for startups by showing them the potential and the attractivity of our city with its “perfect” location.

Remich is ideally situated on the European Road on the border triangle between Luxembourg, France, and Germany, which offers, with its close routes, a perfect location for companies to settle down. Surrounded by vineyards, forest, and the Moselle River, Remich offers a perfect environment for a work-life-balance and attracts a lot of different people which enables symbioses between all target groups.

Can you outline the event’s themes and their significance?

This year’s event is about innovation startups which offer sustainable solutions for businesses and for consumers such as green energy, sustainable building materials, environmental analytics, and sustainable consumer products.

“It is possible to integrate sustainable innovation in the city’s landscape and we want to continue this path.”

Who is the target audience, and how will Remich attract diverse stakeholders, including local entrepreneurs and investors?

The event is for everyone interested in startups providing innovative sustainable solutions, from our residents to residents from neighboring cities, as well as for investors, and local business owners.

What insights and successes emerged from the first two editions of Remich’s startup event, shaping the third edition?

We clearly see that the interest in the event has grown tremendously from the first event in terms of a growing audience, but also in startups interested in showcasing their solutions in Remich. This is clearly a success for us, as Remich and the event itself seem to get on the agenda of innovation-minded startup event goers.

Furthermore, the mini biosphere of Plattenbaum, which has been presented at the event last October can already be found in our Parc “Jeannot Belling”. This shows that it is possible to integrate sustainable innovation in the city’s landscape and we want to continue this path.
