Luxembourg-based voice message capturing solution Softbrik has been selected for the Intel oneAPI developer programme

The programme, which works with tech founders and teams to make technology more inclusive, was won over by Softbrik’s applications for patients with sight impairments and MS.

“The challenge of any technology is that it’s made by smart people for smart people in the wider society,” Softbrik co-founder Romit Choudhury told Silicon Luxembourg, adding: “We work in healthcare and when we presented our technology to them, they were extremely interested in working with us on inclusive tech projects.”

Through the six-month programme, Softbrik will benefit from expert consultancy on its algorithms and the potential to access funding through Intel’s corporate venture fund.

Choudhury co-founded Softbrik with former Amazon colleague Frederik Andersen in 2019 with the goal of developing the next generation of Conversational AI for Customer Intelligence & Support.

They secured €150k equity-free funding from the StartupvsCovid19 programme and developed their voice-to-text technology to assist medical practitioners such as nurses and support staff capture patient symptoms. The solution was found to be a more efficient use of time than a phone call or in-person appointment because it delivers patient symptoms and updates in a concise format.

“We reduce the cost and improve the efficiency of the clinics and reduce their staff burnout and the advantage for the patients is that they get a response,” Choudhury said, adding: “There is a human interaction and that helps them to stay in touch with their healthcare provider.”

The Softbrik platform went live in 2021. It is currently available in 25 languages and used in nine countries. In early 2023, Softbrik turned its focus on the US healthcare market and in Q1 secured its first customer in San Diego.
