The Perspectives video campaign, launched by Startup Luxembourg at the end of last year, put the spotlight on a flourishing ecosystem by choosing to let those who make it more dynamic every day speak. Jonas Mercier, who coordinates Startup Luxembourg, reviews the objectives of this initiative and tells us more about the plans for 2022.

Why did Startup Luxembourg launch the Perspectives campaign?

Like all Startup Luxembourg initiatives, the main objective was to promote the startup ecosystem. As is often the case, the best way to do this is to let our best ambassadors speak. Giving the floor to the heads of incubators, innovation hubs and institutions as well as to entrepreneurs is an excellent way of showing that the arguments we put forward to promote the country, and more particularly its startup ecosystem, stem directly from those working in the field. This also gave us an opportunity to showcase ten different organisations and companies. Giving visibility to our players while promoting the whole ecosystem is a good summary of the philosophy of Startup Luxembourg.

Startup Luxembourg has been in existence for almost 3 years. Can you give us an update on the initiative?

Startup Luxembourg is a public initiative supported by the Ministry of the Economy and managed by Luxinnovation. It is a promotional tool. The Luxembourg startup ecosystem has now reached a sufficient level of maturity and needs to be promoted more widely. And the interest is there. In less than 3 years, we have more gained more than 20,000 followers on the Startup Luxembourg LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter accounts. The website www.startupluxembourg.com has had more than 55,000 visits since its launch in July. We have organised a dozen webinars and several side events at international events such as the Web Summit. And this is just the beginning.

What are Startup Luxembourg’s plans for 2022?

We will continue to improve our website based on the initial feedback accumulated over the past 6 months. We will also integrate new features. At the same time, we will launch several international digital campaigns to further position Luxembourg on the European map of startup ecosystems. Finally, we will be present at several international trade fairs. A detailed agenda will be shared on our website in the coming days. Beyond these international objectives, we also want to take advantage of local initiatives and success stories to get the word out about Luxembourg. The News and Insights section of www.startupluxembourg.com is there to promote startups news. Startups can post their content directly on the website.

Can local events like Fit 4 Start also be a lever for international promotion?

Yes, they can. Fit 4 Start is the Grand Duchy’s flagship acceleration programme and its reputation is already solid internationally. It is a great tool for promoting the ecosystem. The startups that graduate from this programme are undoubtedly future champions and therefore perfect ambassadors for Luxembourg. Next Thursday, the Fit 4 Start Day webinar will not only be an opportunity to hear the pitches of the 20 startups selected for the 12th edition, but also to get feedback from the 12 startups that graduated from the 11th edition. We are currently promoting this event internationally.

Don’t miss the Fit 4 Start Day on January 27th. Register here. Take part in an online event with the graduated startups of edition #11 and the selected startups of edition #12!
