Co-organized by Pegasus Tech Ventures, EU-TRIBE and EY Luxembourg, this competition has been recognized as one of the most prestigious worldwide competitions dedicated to startups. It will be taking place for the third time in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

Organized in 40 countries around the world, the Startup World Cup aims to connect the start-up ecosystem on a global scale and encourage the most promising entrepreneurs to compete.

The winner of the local competition will represent Luxembourg and the Greater Region in the semi-final and possibly in the grand final in San Francisco. In 2017 and 2018, Digitsole and Largowind had flown to Silicon Valley from Luxembourg.

Interestingly, there are several new features in this new 2020 edition. The competition has been divided into three phases. The first will be a regional quarter-final (among 40 countries around the world), including one in Luxembourg. The second will be the semi-finals in San Francisco where 10 to 15 startups will try their luck. The third will be the grand finale in San Francisco on May 22, 2020.

The winner of the Startup World Cup will have the chance to win a prize worth $1 million in investments.

The call for applications has officially been launched. Any start-up that wants to participate can now apply until December 20 online.
