Startup World Cup Announces 10 Luxembourg Finalists

On June 6th, 2024, Luxembourg will host the regional final of the Startup World Cup, an international competition co-organised by EY Luxembourg. The winning startup will represent Luxembourg in the finals in San Francisco where it can win up to $1m.

This prestigious event, known for having financed successful startups such as SpaceX, Airbnb, and Twitter, aims to unite startup ecosystems worldwide, offering promising entrepreneurs a platform to showcase their ideas and compete for a chance to secure one million US dollars in investment.

After rigorous evaluation by a collaborative selection committee comprising esteemed organisations like Luxinnovation, Startup Luxembourg, Luxembourg-City Incubator, House of Startups, Luxembourg House of Financial Technology, Technoport, Startups.lu, Luxembourg Business Angel Network, and The University of Luxembourg Incubator and Entrepreneurship Program, the top 10 finalists have emerged. 

These startups represent a diverse array of innovative solutions spanning sustainability, technology, healthcare, finance, and beyond.

  • Äerd Lab: Innovating sustainable housing with 3D printed self-drying clay-based bricks to reduce waste and enhance energy efficiency.
  • ClimateCamp: A sustainability SaaS platform aiding organisations in tracking and managing greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Emma Technologies: Streamlining business interactions with cloud platforms and infrastructures through the Emma platform.
  • MDsim: A SaMD solution designed to assist spine surgeons and medical device manufacturers.
  • Moniflo: Offering retail investors secure and affordable access to sustainable investments.
  • StaysCo: Facilitating corporate accommodations globally for relocation management companies and multinationals.
  • Trace Crystal: Developing unique CaeSaR tags for trustworthy object authentication via optical scanning.
  • Videobot: Enhancing website engagement and lead conversion through personalised video funnels.
  • Wequity: Simplifying compliance and sustainability efforts through its platform.
  • Yuri Lux: Leveraging space biotechnology to manufacture superior biotechnology products in microgravity environments.

To prepare for the final showdown, the finalists will receive coaching and guidance from the House of Startups.

On the day of the event, they will pitch their ideas to an esteemed jury comprising prominent investors and tech entrepreneurs, including Antoine Welter, CEO of Circu Li-ion, Alain Rodermann, Founding Partner of Expon Capital, Kamel Amroune, CEO of The Dots, and Amélie Madinier, CEO of Le Village by CA.

The event promises an electrifying atmosphere as the finalists take the stage to present their innovations to both the jury and the public. The winner will be announced and rewarded the same evening, after deliberation, marking a significant milestone in their entrepreneurial journey.
