What Happens Inside A Tech Meetup With 100+ CEOs

As a new kid on the block in Luxembourg, I was honoured to be invited to Silicon Luxembourg’s recent CEO Cocktail event. Knowing there would be more than 100 CEOs, Founders, Co-Founders, and Managing Directors in one room – I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous.

But as they say, good things happen when you get out of your comfort zone. So, I chucked on my trusty red blazer and dusted off some heels that hadn’t been worn since pre-COVID, and I made my way into the doors of INNSiDE by Melia Luxembourg, a stunning boutique hotel in Cloche D’Or. I was greeted by the friendly staff after a quick and seamless COVID check, then let out a sigh of relief when I saw the friendly faces of the Silicon Luxembourg team. They kindly introduced me to a few guests, and the night continued from there.

With gourmet hors-d’œuvres and flowing wine, key decision makers could easily make new contacts in a safe, relaxed and exclusive environment. One thing that stood out to me was the variety of backgrounds and cultures. I met leaders from Lebanon, Belgium, Finland, France, Luxembourg, Canada – just to name a few. Although guests came from various backgrounds and sectors, they all had one thing in common; a love for tech and a drive to succeed in the startup world.

From an outsider’s perspective, it seemed like most people knew each other, making the tech industry a tight-knit community in Luxembourg. However, everyone I met was very welcoming and eager to learn more about my arrival from Australia and the launch of my business, an employer brand consultancy called Culture Ignite. I look forward to connecting further with the contacts I met to explore potential opportunities to collaborate.

Silicon Luxembourg’s CEO, Charles-Louis Machuron said, “This event was the kick-off of our new series of events that we will announce for 2022. It was a unique opportunity to bring together a closed group of entrepreneurs and decision-makers in a friendly setting and allow them to make high-level contacts. In addition to the media, the number one goal of our events is really to reach out to entrepreneurs, startups, investors, public policy makers and take the time for our team to make the necessary and timely connections. Being able to count on a hundred or so decision-makers at this event shows the desire of the tech leaders to get together and build the future of Luxembourg’s digital ecosystem together.”

I look forward to joining more events by Silicon Luxembourg and continuing to meet new faces in this wonderful place I now call home. For more information about upcoming events by Silicon Luxembourg, feel free to check them out here.
