Yotako, a Luxembourg-based startup has raised €1 million for its SaaS platform that translates designs created on editors (such as Adobe XD, Sketch, Balsamiq or Photoshop) into programming languages and customizable ready-to-use code by developers.

“The seed investment comes partly from private investors, including existing investors from previous funding, as well as from public funds,” Alfonso García, founder and CEO of the company explains.

“Yotako’s team is now working with LBAN and BeAngels for this new episode in the company’s life. The final team of investors includes experts from the digital world, both in web and mobile sectors, as well as very well-known investors of the ecosystem with different backgrounds and great experience in early investments but also in SaaS models,” he adds.

The funds will be used to grow the team of developers. The company intends to recruit talents from all over the world including senior front-end developers and senior full stack engineers.

“Product-led growth”

The company aims to keep up with the customers’ needs and requests and to release new features: “Our goal, on an organizational level, is to penetrate through teams to achieve & kick off what we call “product-led growth” by giving our users the best experience possible,” García details’.

The startup’s platform helps designers and developers to translate their design is (made in Sketch, Photoshop, Balsamiq…) into ready to use source code that developers can use to finish the mobile application or website for their customers,”

The conversion follows three steps: The conception of the design in the editor; The transfer of the design to the Yotako platform; Thirdly, the choice – via Yotako – of the development application and programming language for the web concretization of the design, as well as the broadcasting medium (PC, mobile, Mac, Android).

The company also proposes a Freehand Canvas, a tool that converts drawings into mobile apps and websites.

The tools are dedicated to clients who create websites and mobile applications, design companies, communication companies or marketing departments of large organizations with digital needs.

Launched in 2016 Yotako, headquarters in Belval’s Technoport. The startup took part to one of the first Fit 4 Start sessions.

Prior to founding and directing the company, Alfonso García, who holds a PHD in Research on Model Driven Engineering of Human-Computer Interaction, worked as an R&D Software Engineer (CRP Henri Tudor) and as a researcher and teacher (Institut Polytechnique de Grenoble).
