MarketLeap, an AI-driven platform simplifying direct-to-consumer (D2C) ecommerce, has secured $8 million in Series A funding.
Led by Smedvig Ventures, with participation from Expon Capital, Motier Ventures, and business angels from Amazon, SoftBank, and Unilever, the funds will accelerate platform development, AI automation, and global expansion, especially in the U.S.
Founded in 2022 as Gonuggets by ex-Amazon executives Mamoun Benkirane and Mekki Mouaddeb, MarketLeap helps D2C brands scale globally. Its AI-powered platform automates operations like inventory management and pricing, allowing brands to expand with ease.

This funding builds on MarketLeap’s earlier success, including a €2.6 million total raise, with €1.5 million secured in Seed funding in 2022. Clients like Edible Health, Nordgreen, and Defunc have seen significant growth, with the platform’s automation driving up revenue and streamlining marketplace operations.
For MarketLeap’s leadership, the mission is clear: simplifying marketplace operations so brands can thrive globally. CEO and co-founder Mamoun Benkirane emphasizes that the platform’s AI-driven automation removes operational hurdles, allowing brands to focus on their D2C strategy. “Our platform simplifies marketplace operations using automation and AI, allowing brands to focus on their D2C strategy. We are ‘seller-obsessed,’ empowering brands to unlock their full potential in global ecommerce.”
COO Mekki Mouaddeb highlights a key challenge for ecommerce businesses—navigating the complexities of marketplaces. “Many solutions sideline brand owners or offer tools that demand too much time. Our model ensures they remain at the helm, while we streamline operations in the background,” he says.
