The Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry, ALFI, held its 35th anniversary celebration on 6 July at the Melusina in Clausen, one of the city’s most emblematic neighbourhoods.
Founded on 9 November 1988, ALFI emerged as the voice and face of the Luxembourg asset management and investment fund community at a time when Europe was developing a single market for investment funds.
With a vision to promote the development of the Luxembourg fund industry and represent it at European and global levels, ALFI became a driving force in shaping the future of the investment fund industry.
Over the years, ALFI has witnessed remarkable growth, currently representing over 1,500 Luxembourg domiciled investment funds, asset management companies and a wide range of companies that service the sector. This expansion in membership demonstrates ALFI’s ability to forge strong relationships with key stakeholders. ALFI members include investment fund managers, depository banks, fund administrators, transfer agents, distributors, legal firms, tax advisory firms, auditors and accountants, independent non-executive directors, specialised IT and communication companies.
ALFI’s relentless efforts have contributed to Luxembourg’s transformation into Europe’s leading fund centre and the second-largest in the world, after the US. With investment funds distributed across more than 70 countries worldwide, Luxembourg’s global significance in the investment landscape has expanded, fostering economic growth and attracting international investors.
ALFI will continue working on promoting the Luxembourg fund industry to open new markets and consolidating Luxembourg’s position as an international investment fund centre.
